GMSV is represented around the country by seven dealerships, with five sites throughout the North Island and two locations in the South Island.

Of the three-model Silverado range, the top-of-the-line LTZ Premium has been the most popular iteration for Kiwi buyers, accounting for 196 of the 251 units sold to date.

Since the launch of the new GM Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) brand in New Zealand in November 2020, more than 250 of the impressive new trucks have been sold around the country.

Kiwis have purchased an average of four Chevrolet Silverados every week, embracing the iconic American trucks for both work and play.

“At GMSV, we handpick some of the very best of what GM has to offer and bring it to motoring enthusiasts in New Zealand,” said General Manager of GMSV New Zealand, Matthew Taylor.

“Key to the success of Chevrolet Silverado is the untold performance, functionality, and versatility on offer.  It’s practical in a truck-like sense and remarkably well specified, with features and attributes more akin to the latest passenger vehicles.

“It’s a near-perfect amalgamation of the very best bits taken from two very different spheres of the automotive world, delivering power, performance and renowned towing capability.”

Of the three different Silverado models available in New Zealand, two offer a 6.2-litre V8 and the new 2500 Heavy Duty packs a 6.6-litre V8 Duramax turbodiesel powerplant into its cavernous engine bay. All engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

“The petrol models create 313kW of power, whereas the forte for the HD is the 1234Nm of torque on tap, which makes it perfect for more heavy applications,” says Matthew.

“Our most popular model by quite some stretch, is the Silverado LTZ Premium. Many customers purchase this model for its versatility and interior comforts, it’s also perfect for towing boats or caravans on the weekend. Tradies love it to help haul their tools and equipment too. It really is the ultimate work and lifestyle accessory.”
