Lamborghini sold a total of 2,539 vehicles globally during the first quarter of 2022: a figure up by 5% on the same period in 2021 and 31% on 2020.

Roughly half of all customers choose the Urus Super SUV, with the other half opting for the Huracán and Aventador sports cars even though the V12 model is reaching the end of its production cycle.

Lamborghini continues to soar in the first quarter of 2022, with a total of 2,539 vehicles delivered globally, making Q1 the company’s best-ever quarter. The figure was up by 5% on the same period in 2021 and 31% on 2020.

Sales distribution in the first quarter remains well balanced among the three macro-regions of EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa, 40%), America (32%) and Asia Pacific (28%). Almost all of the markets saw growth in their figures with the exception of Russia, where the company has suspended its business operations.

Roughly half of all customers choose the Urus Super SUV, with the other half opting for the Huracán and Aventador sports cars even though the V12 model is reaching the end of its production cycle.

The same level of growth compared to Q1 last year was seen by both the Urus and the Huracán, with worldwide deliveries of the vehicles reaching 1,547 and 844 units respectively. The V10 model has continued its vibrant appeal this year.

“We’ve made a solid start to a year that will bring new challenges on a global scale,” said Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “Despite the uncertainty caused by a geopolitical situation, we can count on exceptional appeal worldwide right now.

“Every month the orders we take outstrip our output. We currently have enough to comfortably cover more than 12 months of production. In addition, we’re preparing for a new stage in the Lamborghini story in just under a year, as we move towards electrification with the arrival of the new V12 hybrid model in 2023.”

There are three new product announcements lined up for the second part of the year: two for the Urus and one for the Huracán.

This positive sales news comes hot on the heels of Automobili Lamborghini being confirmed as one of the most sustainable companies in Italy for the second consecutive year.

Automobili Lamborghini received a Green Star 2022 award in April, recognising it as one of the most sustainable companies in Italy thanks to the numerous initiatives and investments made in environmental sustainability since 2009.

The main projects developed by Lamborghini since 2009 include the creation of a park where 10,000 oak trees were planted; biomonitoring projects with bees; the construction of one of the largest photovoltaic plants in Emilia-Romagna; and the creation of a district heating and trigeneration plant, fundamental in obtaining site carbon neutrality certification in 2015, which has been maintained to this day even following the doubling of the company’s surface area.

The most recent initiatives include the circular economy project with leather and carbon fibre waste recycling and the launch of a sustainable logistics project, which has led to an 85% reduction in the emissions produced by transport of Urus body shells, which now travel by rail.

The Green Star award is given annually by the German Institute for Quality and Finance (ITQF) in collaboration with the Institute for Management and Economic Research (IMWF) of Hamburg, which carry out complex and detailed online research to determine the companies that are most committed to green economy strategies. The study collects over one million references to the 2000 companies analysed. The thirty aspects monitored include ecological, economic, and social sustainability, innovation and technology.
