Allbirds announces limited edition collaboration with Jeff Staple

Dec 10, 2020

The Allbirds X Staple limited edition Dasher is the result of a collaboration between Allbirds and Reed Art Department founder, Jeff Staple.

Staple says the idea behind the collab was to turn Allbirds’s Tree Dasher sports shoe inside-out to see what exactly goes into making a performance shoe from nature.

The Allbirds X Staple limited edition Dasher will only be available via the Allbirds website, and for a strictly limited time.

The Allbirds X Staple limited edition Dasher is the brainchild of two forward-thinking companies focused on shaking up the status quo.

As a central theme of the collab, Jeff Staple and Allbirds are putting the carbon emissions of their limited-edition products front and center.

The project took flight when Jeff Staple, a sneaker legend and world renowned creative, who founded Reed Art Department and Staple Pigeon, had the idea to turn Allbirds’s Tree Dasher inside-out to see what exactly goes into making a performance shoe from nature.

What he found was not just an intricately engineered mix of regenerative materials, but also a distinctive, almost anatomical, design.

Rather than keeping the Carbon Footprint label, which every Allbirds product carries under the insole, Staple put it prominently on display, thereby looking to spark conversations about the environmental impact of the things consumers buy and wear.

The Staple X Allbirds launch will also include the Staple Sock  Jeff Staple’s take on Allbirds’s classic Trino Tuber socks, featuring the Staple Pigeon motif.

Mainline Dasher will retail online at allbirds.co.nz for NZD$265 from 2.00am Sunday, December 13, 2020.
