Kowtow introduces Nature collection for summer

Just in time for balmy summer evenings and beachy days, Kowtow has released a summer collection built around soft organic cotton in shades borrowed from nature.

Kowtow says its new Nature collection is made to be lived in. Each piece consists of flowing fabrics in a colourful palette that reflects the natural environment. Each piece, it says, is a celebration of the delicate planet we call home.

Kowtow walks the talk from an environmental responsibility standpoint, engaging with a slow production chain where collections take up to 18 months from design to delivery. This forms a basis for its core values of workers’ rights and environmental protection.

Kowtow’s summer range, Nature, is a collection made from soft organic cotton, in shades borrowed from Earth.

Upon exploring Kowtow’s emotional connection with nature, the designers say the new range reflects moments that are both radical and quiet between land, sea and sky. Khaki, cyan, lemon and peony find composition across soft jersey, crisp shirting and robust ripstop, all made entirely from the brand’s Fairtrade Certified organic cotton.

Designed gently and with consideration, Kowtow says Nature is made to be lived in.

Kowtow engages with a slow production chain, where collections take 18 months from design to delivery. This is the basis for its core values, to ensure workers’ rights and environmental protection. Garments are certified by non-profit, internationally recognised organisations. We support fair wages, no child labour, workers’ rights, gender equality & grower community.

As to its supply chain, all cotton is certified by Fairtrade Labelling Organisations International (FLO). Every season, certified farmer groups receive a premium to be spent on community projects such as medical costs, irrigation schemes for conserving rainwater, books and clothes for school children, farmer education, training and upgrades. Kowtow says it pays this premium on every single cotton garment.

The same thoughtfulness extends to the materials Kowtow uses in creating its collections.

All garments are made from organic, renewable, and biodegradable fibres, and are designed with longevity in mind. All fabrics are 100% unique to Kowtow as the label designs “from the yarn”, determining the weave, weight, stitch, colour and design of prints in-house for every fabric.

Kowtow says it also ensures all packaging follows a similar environmental course, with all paper used – from swing tags to boxes – Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) approved. FSC ensures forests are managed in a way that takes care of the animals and plants who inhabit it, and the workers and local communities who rely on forests. All packaging is printed with soy-based and petroleum-free inks & designed to be entirely recyclable.
