The Passat Alltrack goes ‘petrol only’ for the first time in its history, with a 162kW TSI turbo petrol under the bonnet. Something that hasn’t changed is Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive engineering, which continues to offer surefooted performance in almost any environment.

Passat dependability meets Kiwi lifestyle space and pace, with the Alltrack iteration of Volkswagen’s executive station wagon returning to New Zealand after a three-year hiatus.

After a three-year hiatus, Volkswagen’s ‘adventurous allrounder’, the Passat Alltrack, is back with some adventurous updates of its own.

This includes a comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems, as well as moving to petrol power exclusively for the first time, utilising a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo capable of 162kW peak power and 350Nm of torque.

The power is seamlessly delivered to the road through Volkswagen's seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system, helping achieve the trusty load-lugger a 7.9L/100km combined fuel efficiency figure.

Volkswagen’s surefooted 4MOTION technology provides maximum grip and stability whether on a drive up the coast or simply on the school run. When utilised in conjunction with Adaptive Chassis Control, the vehicle responds automatically to any environment.

The 2021 Alltrack retains the Passat wagon's impressive boot space: 639-litres with the back seats up, or a huge 1,769-litres when the back bench is folded down. Exterior dimensions remain largely unchanged from the previous iteration of Alltrack, proving a solid and well-planted vehicle for any road.

The new Passat Alltrack driver assistance suite includes Travel Assist with Adaptive Lane Guidance, Front Assist with Pedestrian Monitoring, as well as Side Assist (blind-spot monitoring) and Emergency Assist. Additional highlights include 19-inch Albertville alloys, Nappa leather upholstery with heated electric front seats, an easy open/close tailgate, and wireless App-Connect.

“As SUVs dominate this segment, a number of our customers have been asking for the return of this very popular model as there’s not a lot of choice when it comes to quality AWD wagons, particularly at this price point,” says Greg Leet, Volkswagen New Zealand’s General Manager of Passenger Vehicles. “We are thrilled to bring this car back to our line-up as we know it resonates well with the Kiwi lifestyle.”

Competitively priced at $59,990 (plus ORCs) and backed by Volkswagen’s five-year/150,000-kilometre warranty, the new Passat Alltrack also includes five years of roadside assist, making it the perfect choice with performance and comfort to take every drive much further.
