New Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace

Versatility is the name of the SUV game in New Zealand and VW’s Tiguan Allspace is easily the brand’s most versatile SUV, no wonder the release of the latest model is so hotly anticipated.

From the working week to a weekend escape, the Tiguan Allspace really does offer all the flexibility of a class-leading SUV.

Kiwi families, our interests and our vehicle needs are as diverse as they come, from weekend sports activities, camping and outdoors to grinding through urban traffic. The need for something comfortable, capable and importantly versatile across the whole gamut of Kiwi life is important. That’s possibly why many buyers select the Volkswagen Tiguan and the even more versatile Allspace. The latest 2022 Allspace is about to launch with models arriving from December and we can’t wait to get our hands on it.

This refreshed model of Volkswagen’s first and only family-sized, 7-seat SUV offers more space, versatility, and towing capacity (AWD variants only) than its over-achieving smaller sibling, the Tiguan 5-seater. Not a bad sibling to out-shine given its claim to fame as Volkswagen’s most popular model worldwide.

Suffice to say, the new Tiguan Allspace comes with big wraps, and as Greg Leet, General Manager of Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles says, it has the big features to back it up.

“Tiguan is undoubtedly a core model for the brand, and the new Allspace only enhances that reputation further.

As the only 7-seater vehicle across our passenger range, it comes with a lot of responsibility to ensure it meets our customers’ wide-ranging expectations. Fortunately, its appeal is as universal, as our customer’s lifestyles are varied,” says Leet.

The versatility of its luggage capacity alone is astonishing. With the vehicle in two-seat configuration there is a staggering 1,775L^ available, 700L when in five-seat, and an impressive 230L^ when all seven seats are in use. (^Pending final confirmation)

Then there is the superb fuel economy from which you’ll receive 7.6L/100km*. Both the 1.4L and 2.0L TSI engines across the range are equipped with the latest direct fuel injection and turbocharging technology. It is this technology that makes a compact powertrain powerful and efficient — resulting in the ability to travel longer distances with less fuel, and while still delivering maximum torque from much lower revs. (*7.6km/100km combined for TSI Life, 8.5km/100km for TSI Style and 8.4km/100km for TSI R-Line.)

To further improve on an already solid performing platform, extra premium touches have been added to further enhance the driving experience.

The new Tiguan Allspace range will now push the bar higher with its new LED headlights and IQ. LIGHT matrix headlights (exclusive to R-Line), offering high-precision illumination of the road ahead. A full-width front LED light strip (Style & R-Line only) and revised lower bumper designs (which also differ in design between standard and R-Line models) have also been applied to help forge a visual link between Volkswagen’s other SUVs, such as T-Roc and Touareg.

The new Allspace will also feature numerous advanced driver assistance systems as standard, which had previously only been available in higher vehicle categories. We will also see this extensive list grow with the addition of Volkswagen`s latest safety feature, Travel Assist. Especially on the motorway and on well-maintained roads, Travel Assist can keep you in lane and maintain speed while monitoring the distance from the traffic in front. Together with the vehicle’s outstanding crash characteristics and exemplary occupant protection, the systems boost safety, reduce the risk of a collision, and improve driving comfort.

And offered for the first time as a standardised feature is the customisable 10.25” Active Info Display, providing all the info you need at glance. Intuitive controls, an updated infotainment system and a touch-based climate control panel sit alongside Volkswagen’s latest multi-function steering wheel design for the complete sporty and hi-spec/hi-tech experience.

Competitively priced across the line-up (see indicative pricing below) and backed by Volkswagen’s five-year/150,000-kilometre warranty, the 2022 Tiguan Allspace also includes five years of roadside assist, making it the perfect choice for performance, comfort, and adaptability.

The line-up goes on sale in New Zealand from the end of 2021 and across the second quarter of next year. Final specs to be confirmed closer to launch.
