With its six-cylinder mid-engine set-up, race-proven GT chassis, and lightweight construction promising maximum agility, the Porsche 718 Spyder RS stands out from the crowd. Porsche Design says its accompanying exclusive chronograph is equally designed for total performance.
Porsche Design has launched the new Chronograph 718 Spyder RS exclusively for buyers of the sportscar. The official lifestyle apparel and accessory division of the famed carmaker says high-quality design features and numerous technical details that have been precisely matched from the vehicle to the timepiece, in order to evoke pure emotion when the wearer looks at their wrist.
The chronograph is designed for performance and, thanks to its lightweight titanium case, doesn't weigh a gram too much.
Porsche Design says the timepiece can also be configured just as individually as its motorised counterpart. The case is available in natural titanium or black titanium. The bezel is in the corresponding colour version and is available with a tachymeter or minute dial. Porsche Design's official timepiece configurator offers all available Spyder RS standard, metallic, and special colors for the individual colour ring around the dial as well as 114 additional colours of choice ('Paint to Sample') – including numerous historic Porsche colours.
The scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with seven-fold antireflective coating on both sides guarantees optimum readability on every thrilling bend in the road. The carbon “RS” dial and the “GT” dial in black provide additional motorsport touches while the white hour and minute indices made of ceramic Super-LumiNova luminous material provide a sporty contrast.
The hands in Performance (white), Essence (black), or GT (yellow) intensify the fascination of racing with every second. The mechanical gear indicator at 9 O'Clock underscores the ultimate motorsport genes of the 718 Spyder RS with a checkered flag design in black and white and dynamic "Spyder RS" lettering.
On the back, the Chronograph 718 Spyder RS features a rotor in the look of the Spyder RS wheel. In the center of both rotors – available in the colours of Brilliant Silver, Aluminum (satin finish), Dark Silver, Neodyme, Indigo Blue, and Black respectively – is the end cap adorned with an “RS” logo in Brilliant Silver. For even more individuality, additional model-specific rotor colours can be selected in the timepiece configurator. The back of the chronograph can also be customised by engraving a text of up to 12 characters – for example, the vehicle identification number (VIN) of the matching roadster.
The COSC-certified Porsche Design WERK 01.200 is enclosed in a glass bead-blasted titanium back in the case colour. The movement also features a flyback function that combines starting, stopping and resetting in a single operation. The leather strap that is included accentuates the close connection to the 718 Spyder RS – with black, smooth vehicle leather and an attachment made of black Race-Tex with “Spyder RS” embossed on the 6 O'Clock position.
